BALVICAR ST IMPORTANT UPDATE
Please see the Current Issues area for an urgent update regarding the use of 32 Balvicar St as hotel accommodation. It seems the Council has been in secret discussions to allow McKever to operate the flats as hotel rooms in breach of official Council policy. The residents and the community council were excluded from these discussions and McKever warned that if he lost the appeal he would 'fill 32 with homeless people' .
IT IS A DISGRACE THAT THE COUNCIL CAVE IN TO SUCH THREATS AND EVEN MORE DISGRACEFUL THAT McKEVER USES HOMELESS PEOPLE AS A WEAPON. PLEASE EMAIL ALL OF YOUR LOCAL COUNCILLORS, YOUR MSP AND ALL OF THE GLASGOW LIST MSPs. THIS AGREEMENT ISN'T SIGNED YET AND WE CAN STILL STOP IT!
Shawlands and Strathbungo Community Council exists to represent the views of everyone from the Shawlands and Strathbungo areas of Glasgow.
Our meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month at 7.30pm in Shawlands Academy. Everyone is more than welcome and the facility has disabled access. Each meeting is attended by City Councillors. Please note that we do not meet during July and August.
